The basis of creating change in your life is the decision that you matter.
Why is that?
Let’s say that you found your purpose in life. If you didn’t think you mattered, you would say, what’s the point? So what if I found my purpose? I don’t matter enough to get what I desire anyways.
Before searching for why you are here, we start with, you matter.
You matter and you’ve simply forgotten that you do.
For most of us, when we were born, we received love, attention, and affection from our parents and or caregivers. We mattered. We would be fed, smiled at, celebrated, etc.
One day, we forgot that we matter. Either there was a trauma or many incidences that occurred and you concluded that you no longer mattered.
If there was no celebration for you when you were born, for example, you were given up for adoption at birth, you may never have realized that you mattered at all.
For me, it was when my father left. I decided as a young child that if I mattered, he would have stayed. From then on, I spent the rest of my life either believing that I didn’t matter or trying to prove to the world that I did.
I would get good grades, become successful, etc. all to show the universe that I matter, all the while, feeling like I didn’t.
What I’ve come to realize, through the identity work is that I simply had it backwards.
I don’t do things to prove that I matter. I matter and I do things. I matter and I do things because I matter. AND, because I matter, the things that I do, also matter.
Now that I know I matter, it’s time for me to remind others that they also matter.
This is why I created the upcoming 7-day embodied identity journey. It starts on Monday, June 3.
