If you saw an angry dog from across the street, how would you know that it was angry?
It could be barking, walking in a certain way, barring its teeth, etc. In the same way that you innately know that a dog is angry, you can also sense when a person is experiencing certain emotions.
Let’s say you know that someone is angry, when you have to approach them with something that could upset them further, how would you do it?
You may choose a certain time to tell them or give them good news before you give them bad news. You may prepare ahead of time for a fight to ensure and marshall arguments in your head. Whatever the case, you would probably base your interaction with them on the energy or frequency that they are giving off.
This morning, I missed my morning meditation and found some time to do it later on. As I settled into my meditation, a fight ensued between my children. My first instinct was annoyance and then anger as they got louder and louder.
Just when I was about to stop what I was doing and go talk to them, a picture flashed before my eyes. I saw myself angry and yelling at them. This made me freeze in my tracks. I didn’t want to be the person I envisioned.
So I stayed putt and I continued to meditate. I sat there for another 2 minutes breathing. Suddenly, another picture flashed before me. I saw myself sitting crossed-legged in the woods in peace and calm. That is when I knew I was ready.
I went to my kids and was able to speak to them with calmness, kindness and compassion. They reacted in kind.
Had I gone earlier, I would have regretted my reactions, probably scared my children and everyone would have left the house in a worse state than before.
Check in with yourself before you interact with others. What version of yourself do you want to bring to your interactions?
Our next complimentary workshop is on Tuesday, September 19 at 1 pm EST and it’s a MYSTERY WORKSHOP.
In this workshop, I only ask you to show up. Why am I not telling you the name? Because often in life, we’re asked to take a leap of faith. When we say yes and jump, we are rewarded. You go first, and the universe follows. See you there: https://forms.gle/GorZE5nVukpdBgFx9
Wow moment for me. Your account of what you observed in you is very helpful: cultivating (trees/forest) peace in oneself in order to be able to share with others.
Thank you Dr. Amanda
