The Doctor Becomes A Patient

Last week, I had to go in for surgery. It gave me the opportunity to be a patient for the first time again.

This is how I felt:

I took a deep breath as I approached the building.

I didn’t know what to expect.

Is this going to hurt? For how long?

This may be routine for them, but it’s not for me.

I was scared yet, I knew it was what I needed to do.

I walked in.

I was greeted with kindness.

They answered all my questions and treated me well.

I knew I was in good hands.

I wanted to let you know that I see you.

I know the courage it takes for you to ask for help.

I’ve been there too. I am here now.

There is another version of you who is not in pain, who is healing, and who is living the life that you desire.

We can find them. We can do this together.
