Fall From Grace

As some of you know, I’ve been doing the 75 Hard challenge (https://andyfrisella.com/pages/75hard-info).

This is not for the faint of heart. It’s one of the most intense challenges that I’ve done to date, mainly because if you miss a task for a day, you restart back at day 1.

At first, I did not tell anyone I was doing the challenge because I did not want to be seen as failing. It wasn’t until about 50 days in that I started talking about the challenge.

Fast forward to day 70/75 of the challenge. I joined the official Facebook group of the challenge to connect with like-minded people and realized that I had been doing one of the tasks wrong.

One of the tasks is to drink 1 gallon of water each day. I had been doing this, however, I added electrolytes into my water after working out and that is not allowed.

I was upset however, there was no blame or shame about it as I did not know that adding something to my water was not allowed. As an aside, you can drink electrolytes but they don’t count as part of your water intake.

To some, this would have been a small thing. Why would I restart because of this? My well-meaning friends told me that I could keep going and count my first round done but I knew that I couldn’t.

Did I wish I didn’t see the comments in the Facebook group? Part of me did. But I knew that this lesson was what I needed to uplevel.

The lessons in life aren’t learnt at the top of the hill when you reach your goal. They are learned when you fail, when you fall from grace.

I had flashbacks to different periods of my life when I was not in alignment with my integrity. Shortcuts that I use to take in grade school so that I could finish my work faster.

There were so many times in my life that I searched to take the easy way out or find a shortcut because the destination was more important to me than the journey.

This is why, I started again. Back to day 1. This time, it’s about integrity. It’s about the person I’m becoming along the way. This is how I level up to the next version of me.

If you’re ready, you can join me too.
