My kids were building LEGO over the weekend and this gave me insight into the re-creation or starting over process.
The day before this story occured, my daughter had built a structure out of LEGO.
The next day, I heard her yelling from upstairs. When I arrived on the scene, she was very upset because her brother had taken apart her LEGO structure so that he could build onw of his own.
I laughed at this internally as I thought to myself: How many times have I been upset with the universe when someone in my life seemed to get broken or destroyed.
The conversation my kids and I got to have was…in the creation process, in this case LEGO, as in life, old structures need to be destroyed so new ones can be built.
You don’t start working a new job while holding on to your old. You don’t begin a new relationship until you’ve let go of an old. Even when you’re remodeling your kitchen, your old cupboards need to come down and the house is a mess and filled with dust until your new ones get put in.
If you look at nature, old plants die and become a part of the soil where new ones grow.
Destruction is part of the re-birth and re-creation process.
