Beliefs Keeping You From Healing

Recently, I did a workshop that discussed common limiting beliefs that keep people from healing.

You can watch it here:

Your mind is a powerful thing. It can either imprison you or liberate you.

We are always in a process of healing. If you cut yourself, your body recognizes it and starts to heal. If you bump yourself and get a bruise, your body heals. There are built in defense mechanisms like your immune system that fends off viruses and bacteria before you even get a symptom.

So, why are you not able to heal from your chronic long-term illness?

A place to start the discovery process is to ask yourself, what does it mean to heal?

Does healing mean that you don’t feel a symptom? That you’re not in pain? That you don’t have Lyme disease or a chronic disease?

That you have tons of energy? That you’re at peace?

If you don’t know what it means, how will you know when you get there?

Healing is a journey. It’s a process of inner discovery.

Healing is also multifactorial. It is an individual journey and because everyone is unique, not everything is going to work for everybody. This is why the practice of medicine is an art, science and philosophy, even though we sometimes forget.

I’ve been in practice for 15 years and these are the patterns that I see coming in most often, especially when it comes to chronic illness.

Common limiting beliefs:

  1. Pain is the enemy.
  2. The doctor knows what’s best for you.
  3. You are broken.
  4. You are not worthy of healing.

Watch the video above to see how these limiting beliefs can keep you from healing.
