In a previous article, we delved into regulating the nervous system. Today, we’re about to explore the comprehensive framework I employ to guide individuals along their path to transforming their nervous system.
Step one of this process involves the gathering of crucial information. At this stage, I take a deep dive into the patient’s history and motivations for seeking guidance.
Are they grappling with physical pain? Do they endure symptoms tied to persistent, long-standing ailments? This inquiry extends to their emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being.
The subsequent step is to chart their journey thus far.
What previous methods or treatments have they undergone? What interventions yielded positive outcomes, and which ones fell short?
Were there past traumas that influenced their current state?
This phase aids in gauging the current condition of the nervous system and the body’s inherent capacity for healing.
Moving forward, we subject the nervous system to assessment and testing, comparing the individual’s actual experiences with the internal processes their body is undergoing.
Discrepancies often emerge at this juncture. Frequently, people are unaware of the true physiological state within their bodies.
When someone decides to come in for care, their goal usually revolves around reverting to a previous state of their body. I.e. I just want to go back to my life without the neck pain, before my back pain, etc.
However, returning to a prior state proves unfeasible, as we’re no longer the same individuals.
Consider a scenario where someone has grappled with chronic lower back pain for 6 years; their body has inevitably transformed during this period. For one, their tissues are 6 months older than they are right now. Irrespective of treatments, this evolution remains.
The question arises—why desire a return to a former self? Let’s imagine a scenario where I could erase your back pain by transporting you back in time. Yet, if you were to persist in the same activities that initially caused the pain—lack of exercise, an unhealthy diet, improper lifting, and persistently stressing over finances, work, and relationships—the pain would inevitably resurface.
The current model of healthcare often aims to restore individuals to their prior states. However, this endeavour frequently falls short due to the impossibility of returning to the past.
