Day 8: Feel It First, Then Use the Tools

Today, I want to clarify something that often gets misunderstood in the healing world.

The Tools Are Not the Healing

There are so many incredible nervous system regulation tools available today.

Breathwork. Journaling. Meditation. Walking in nature. Tapping. Cold exposure. Visualization. Prayer.

They are all valuable.

I use them.
I teach them.
I recommend them.

But here’s what I’ve noticed:

Many people unknowingly use these tools to avoid feeling.

They use them as an escape hatch.

A way to get rid of the emotion as quickly as possible.

A way to stop feeling bad.

And then they become frustrated when the tools don’t work.

“I Have the Tools, But They Didn’t Work”

As a practitioner, I hear this all the time.

“I did the breathwork.”

“I went for the walk.”

“I journaled.”

“I used the tools.”

“But I still felt terrible.”

My response is often:

Good.
